Rachel is the Chastity Educator (aka Chasticator) for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis and puns with the best of them. She is beyond passionate about the Church, the REAP Team, youth ministry, the Cardinals, and making David laugh. He loves that she challenges him to be better in all aspects of his life. She puts all of herself into everything that she is doing and that’s why people gravitate towards her. She is adorably stubborn and
almost always always right.
David has been told countless times how lucky he is to be with Rachel and that she is ‘one of the good ones.’ It didn’t take long for him to figure that one out for himself. She is a bundle of laughs and smokin’ hot. He still doesn’t understand why she is interested in marrying him, but he isn’t questioning it either.
No one on this planet makes David feel more alive. She is his favorite human.
David has, at times, been described by others as both ‘excessively creative’ and ‘unfairly gorgeous,’ although the first time Rachel met him, she probably would have said ‘sweet tattoos’ and ‘Star Wars shoes?’ Now that she knows how truly creative and gorgeous he really is, she is beyond thrilled that he’s interested in marrying her.
He’s the talented web guru for Life Teen and a phenomenal youth minister. David would do anything for anyone and his love for the Church is contagious. His interests include Vans, Apple products, Liverpool, both barbecuing and grilling, and taking Rachel on dates. She’s so grateful he already loved baseball but didn’t have any loyalties to a team, since he’s one of the most loyal people she’s ever met. He will now be a Cardinal fan until his death.
No one on this planet makes Rachel laugh harder. He is her favorite human.
Not so long ago, in a desert far, far away (June of 2014, in Phoenix, Arizona to be exact), Rachel Allen was minding her own business at an annual Catholic youth ministry convention. She was simply sitting by a pool and catching up with old friends, when she made the acquaintance of a handsome (bearded) man named David Leininger. After introductions were made and terrible puns were exchanged, it was apparent to David that Rachel was a person he needed to get to know better.
Scholars debate the exact translation of how it all played out, but somehow, somewhere around 3 o’clock in the morning, David made it known that he would love to take Rachel on a date, and phone numbers were clumsily exchanged.
The next day, in the chaos of closing down a convention and attending to travel home, Rachel and David were able to sit together at the hotel bar for 45 minutes before she needed to get to the airport to fly back to St. Louis. At the end of this encounter, as they hugged goodbye at the hotel entrance, both thinking that 45 minutes had passed way too quickly, David said, “I’ll talk to you soon,” and Rachel replied, “I hope so.”
He sent her a text before she boarded her flight, she responded as soon as she landed at home. An epic round of soccer puns were exchanged the next morning, a two-and-a-half hour long phone call was made later that night (and pretty much every night after that); six weeks later, David flew into St. Louis for a week-long visit… and the rest, as they say, is history.
